OKEECHOBEE — The Big O Teen Anglers held their January tournament on Saturday, Feb. 26 and their February tournament on Sunday, Feb. 27.
In January, the temperature was in the 30’s, so the club chose to postpone to the following month. This worked out well with 29 youth anglers participating both days. There were 59 bass weighed in on Saturday with a total weight of 116.61 pounds and 55 weighed in on Sunday with a total weight of 97.10 pounds. The largest bass caught in the 9 to 13 age group was 7.05 pounds caught by Lane Whidden and in the 14 to 19 age group was 6.67 pounds caught by Tanner Seabolt, both on Saturday.
This month’s standings for January were as follows:
9-13 Age Group
• First place - Lane James, 12.75 pounds;
• Second place - Lane Whidden, 12.00 pounds & Big Fish of 7.05 pounds;
• Third place - Kylar Koedam, 7.73 pounds.
14-19 Age Group
• First place - Tanner Seabolt 19.11 pounds and a Big Fish of 6.67 pounds;
• Second place - Ragyn Mohney 8.9 pounds;
• Third place - Colton McPeak 4.06 pounds.
This month’s standings for February were as follows:
9-13 Age Group
• First place - Evan Cote 11.93 pounds and a Big Fish of 4.86 pounds;
14-19 Age Group
• First place - Tanner Seabolt 8.65 pounds;
• Second place - Hunter Daniel 6.30 pounds;
• Third place - Colton McPeak 5.75 pounds and a Big Fish of 5.75 pounds.
Every month the anglers have boat captains who volunteer their Saturday morning to help the youth anglers.
