Brahman soccer team shuts out John Carroll Catholic

OKEECHOBEE- The Okeechobee High School Brahman varsity soccer team scored a win in their first game back from the winter break.

The Brahmans shut out the visiting John Carroll Catholic Rams 3-0 on Jan. 10 at OHS.

Okeechobee now has a 6-4-1 record this season after opening the year with five back-to-back wins. In Okeechobee’s first game of the season they shutout Tradition Prep 7-0 on the road, with seniors Cristian Diaz, Tony Zamora, Elias Garcia , and Blane Boyer all scoring goals for the Brahmans. They followed that up with a 3-2 win over Fort Pierce Central on Nov. 10 and a 6-1 victory against Fort Pierce Westwood on Nov. 13.

The Brahmans added two more wins their first home games of the season, beating Hardee 4-1 on Nov. 14 and Clewiston 2-1 on Nov. 16.

Zamora earned Big Lake Athlete of the Week honors last month for his performance with the team on the heels of that win streak. Zamora scored two goals in Okeechobee’s win over Hardee on Nov. 14 and two goals in the Brahman victory over Fort Pierce Central on Nov. 10

Okeechobee’s final two games of the season will be at home. They’ll host Bayside on Jan. 16 in a district game and then host Tradition Prep on Jan. 19 in a rematch of the opening game of the season.
