OKEECHOBEE — The OHS Brahman swim team opened their 2023 season at Sebring High School on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023. Four high schools competed in the meet, Avon Park, Hardee, Okeechobee and Sebring. This was the first outing for the team under new coaches, Steve Szentmartoni, Jennifer Szentmartoni and Aubrie Libroth. Brahman team captains for 2023/24 season are Lilly Maxwell and Marlene Huerta.

“It was great start for the Okeechobee High School swim team season,” said Coach Aubrey Libroth. “The swimmers had great team spirit, I loved seeing the swimmers cheer each other on during their events,” said Coach Jennifer Szentmartoni. “I’ve been impressed by how hard all the swimmers have worked, and it shows in their races,” said Captain Lilly Maxwell.

Brahman swimmers competed in 21 events. Meet Bests for the Brahmans went to the following individual swimmers: 50M free, Jacob Walther (28.08), Emily Johnson (29.64); 100M Free, Jaxon Walther (1:05.55), Ada Keith (1.09.65); 100M Back, Jaxon Walther (1:21.07), Abby Keith (1.26.37); 100M Fly, Logan Rucks (1.26.75), Lilly Tumoszwicz (1:30.05); 100M Breast, AJ Davis (1:21.05), Lilly Maxwell (1.29.50); 200M Free, Jacob Walther (2:24.20), Lilly Tumoszwicz (2:37.15); 200M IM, AJ Davis (2:48.93), Lilly Maxwell (2:56.75); 500M Free, Aiden Scalf (7:50.08), Sophia Caves (7:33.43). Relay teams: 200M Medley, Jacob Walther, AJ Davis, Logan Rucks, Jaxon Walther (2:16.87), Marlene Huerta, Kamryn Hackett, Ada Keith, Emma Manuel (2:34.74); 200M Free Relay, Jaxon Walther, AJ Davis, Aiden Scalf, Jacob Walther (1:57.14) Lilly Maxwell, Sophia Caves, Emma Manuel, Emily Johnson (2:02.47); 400M Free, Lilly Maxwell, Allie Love, Sophia Caves, Emily Johnson (4:47.62).

On Saturday, the Brahmans return to Sebring for the 32nd annual Blackman Invitational Swim Meet, 12-15 schools and about 325 swimmers compete in the invitational every year.

The first home swim meet is on Sept. 19 at the Okeechobee Sports Complex at 5 p.m.
