Firefighters raise funds for school supplies

OKEECHOBEE — Local firefighters spent their weekend raising funds and school supplies for the Back to School Expo to be hosted by Our Village of Okeechobee.

Professional Firefighters and Paramedics of Okeechobee IAFF Local 2918 were in front of Walmart from 9 am. until 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Firefighters said they were pleased with the public's response and most passersby were very generous.

The expo will be held on Saturday July 29 at the Okeechobee High School from 8 a.m. until noon.

Thank you to everyone that came out and helped support the Okeechobee youth. All of the school supplys and donations that were dropped off this weekend have been given to Our Village Okeechobee and The Closet. With your help we were able to raise over $1,000 in cash and estimated $1500 in school supplys.
