Man charged with indecent exposure during festival

Posted

OKEECHOBEE —According to an Okeechobee City Police arrest report, a local man exposed himself to a teen girl during the festival last weekend.

According to the report, as the girl waited for her mother outside Gladys’ Restaurant on March 14 at approximately 2 p.m., a man walked toward her and exposed himself. The girl and her mother got into their car and followed the man as he walked down the sidewalk. They called 911 and Okeechobee City Police Officer Jessica Francis and Sgt. Aurelio Almazan responded.

Officers located the 53-year-old man a block away and asked him if he exposed himself to the girl. As Almazan, who was there to help with interpretation for the Hispanic man, searched him, Almazan realized the man was still fully exposed. He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor indecent exposure. The report notes there was a festival going on in the park across the street, and there were many families with small children present when the incident occurred.
