LEOs keep kids safe from predators on Halloween

OKEECHOBEE — On Monday, October 31, 2022, the Florida Department of Corrections Okeechobee Probation and the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office conducted an operation involving Sexual Offenders and Predators who are currently on State Probation and living in Okeechobee County.

This operation was to ensure the targeted Sex Offenders and Sexual Predators were not participating in Halloween activities and to locate any violation of the Sexual Offender/Predator registry laws.

Out of the Offenders/Predators registered and currently living in Okeechobee County, one was arrested for violation of Sexual Offender/ Predator registry laws (failure to update job and a new vehicle/trailer registration). This arrest violates the terms of probation for the arrested, Michael S. Daugherty, 46, and he is now also facing Violation of Probation charges from a previous arrest.

There were no issues at the other Offenders/Predators’ residences within Okeechobee County.

OCSO will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of our fellow residents and visitors, especially our children of Okeechobee County.
