Okeechobee County Commission meets Aug. 26

OKEECHOBEE –– Okeechobee County Commissioners will review the Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget at their Aug. 26 meeting in the Historic Okeechobee County Courthouse, 304 N.W. Second Street. The meeting starts at 9 a.m.

Other items on the agenda include:

• Jonathan Bean of Martha’s House will request the county waive the $250 fee for the use of the Okeechobee Civic Center for a Domestic Violence Awareness Month luncheon.

• Commissioners will consider the special assessments for street lights.

• Commissioners will consider the annual rates charged per residence to fund Emergency Medical Services.

• Commissioners will consider the annual rates charged per residence to fund Fire Protection Services.

• A public hearing will be held about the assessment for garbage pickup.

• Commissioners will consider foreclosure on the Jolicoeur property, 1669 State Road 70 East.

• Commissioners will vote on awarding the bid for Maintenance and Operations Building Site Preparation with Drainage Modification & Addition of a Warm-up & Schooling Arena to B&B Site Development, Inc. of Okeechobee, FL, in the amount of $92,540.

• Commissioners will vote on awarding the bid for Dock & Seawall Improvements at C. Scott Driver boat ramps to Underwater Engineering Services, Inc. of Fort Pierce, Florida in the amount of $180,939.

• Commissioners will hear a report on the progress of the jail expansion and renovation project.
