HIGHLANDS COUNTY — A 19-year-old Hardee County teen is accused of a shooting that left an Okeechobee teenager hospitalized.

Cameron Lee Rios, 19, of Hardee County, was arrested Aug. 8 in DeSoto County and charged with two counts of attempted homicide and one count of improper exhibition of a firearm in connection with a shooting at a  party that injured two teenagers.

The shooting took place around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 5 at a large gathering in a wooded area of the Leisure Lakes area in Lake Placid. Witnesses said Rios was involved in an argument at the party and was waving a handgun around, pointing it at multiple people, before he began firing as people ran away.

A 16-year-old male from Okeechobee is still hospitalized after being struck in the torso. A 19-year-old Sebring woman was struck in the ankle and shoulder. She has been released from the hospital.
