Claire "Miss Bob" is ready to begin her new job as student teacher.
OKEECHOBEE — It was a normal Wednesday when 8-year-old Claire came up with her plan to take over her school — one class at a time.

Claire, who is known to students, teachers and even her principal as Bob or Bobberella walked into her third-grade classroom at Rock Solid Christian Academy Wednesday morning and handed her teacher Ms. Monica a contract. The contract stipulated that Claire would be the teacher for the next three days. Because she was busy, Ms. Monica told Claire she could not look at the contract then but maybe later.

The children went out for recess and a friend of Claire's, Felipe, suggested Claire start a petition and get other students to sign it. Knowing a great idea when she heard it, Claire got right to work and by the time recess was over, had 40 signatures. Unfortunately, when she presented that to Ms. Monica, she was told she needed 45 signatures for the petition to be official. Claire went back and got seven more signatures for a total of 47.

This time Ms. Monica had no choice but to sign the contract. However, she had one last trick up her sleeve. Rather than sign her own name, she signed the name of fifth grade teacher, Ms. Emily, and told Claire that because Ms. Emily’s name was on the contract, she would have to teach in her classroom.

Now, Claire will tell anyone who asks that her favorite teacher is her own teacher, Ms. Monica, but she does have a special friendship with Ms. Emily and visits her classroom daily. She credits Ms. Emily with giving her the “Bob” nickname and said in return, she calls Ms. Emily “Tom the Turkey.”

When Claire went to school on Thursday, she was ready for her day as a fifth-grade teacher, even sporting a name tag that read, “Miss Bob.”

Both teachers said they love spending time with Claire and they never know what she will do next.

During her interview, Claire hinted at plans to take over more classrooms in the future and said she always wanted to be a teacher.

Not only is Claire going places in the classroom, but she is also a budding author having written multiple books under the pseudonym Bob.

Fifth grade students expressed excitement over having Bob as their teacher this week. Fourth grader Levi asked if she planned to give the fifth graders a test, but Claire said she would leave the tests to Ms. Emily.
