“I truly believe God put me there today.” That is what 16-year veteran #PBCFR Captain Dittmer said about today’s incident in #OkeechobeeCounty. He made a last minute decision to go help friends clear some land in Okeechobee County. While working, they witnessed a crash that happened right in front of them. Without hesitation, he went into action, gaining entry to the truck, and providing life-saving care to a patient that was trapped. He was also able to communicate vital information to OCFR’s dispatch, so their crews knew exactly what they were dealing with before arrival. Once Okeechobee County Fire Rescue arrived on scene, they all worked seamlessly, with one objective, to safely remove the patient. #OCFR reports that two patients were transported to a Trauma Center as a result of their injuries.

Recently we received a call from a patient we had recently treated. He had suffered major trauma to his hand and our crew's rapid response and quick actions saved his hand and likely his life. Although he jokingly said they applied the tourniquet too tight, he wanted to present the crew with a plaque of appreciation. We love what we do and always enjoy hearing from those we serve.
